So Thai Spa
So Thai Spa offers a luxurious selection of day spa treatments in an attractive townhouse off Sukhumvit Road, with plenty of choice, including facials, body scrubs and massages at low prices. A friendly and well-trained team ensure that your time here leaves you feeling completely pampered and relaxed.
Although the closest BTS is Phrom Pong, it is worth taking a taxi or motorcycle to So Thai Spa, as it takes at least 20 minutes to walk there from the train station, around 900 metres from Sukhumvit Road on the left-hand side.
The house is set back from a residential street, with a swimming pool in the leafy garden, instantly transporting you from busy Bangkok to a small oasis of calm. There are private spa rooms here with space for two people in each – great for couples or a girly afternoon. Unlike many spas in Bangkok So Thai Spa uses massage tables rather than floor mats to enhance your treatment, and there is an en-suite bathroom and shower in each room. The rooms are decorated in traditional Thai style with colourful fabrics, teakwood carvings, and slatted blinds to keep out the light. The whole experience is so enjoyable that falling asleep whilst being massaged is common!
The receptionist and the masseuse both have excellent English and the team is very welcoming, suggesting suitable treatments and making sure you feel at ease. The most popular package is the four-hour Full Spa, which includes a range of soothing relaxation techniques. It starts off with a foot scrub, followed by a Thai foot massage, ideal for anyone who has spent a bit longer than they planned walking around Bangkok. The Herbal Body Scrub that follows will leave your skin feeling fresh and invigorated, with an oil body massage (you can pick from a range of scents including lavender and lemongrass).
If you are interested in the popular four-hour massage, it is worth booking ahead, although the team will try to accommodate you (if possible) if you turn up unannounced. It is rare to get such a personal, high-quality service at such decent prices, with plenty of special offers on throughout the year.
