Rooftop Space 16 By Bed Concepts
When legendary Bed Supperclub closed last year, you could have been forgiven for thinking the dream was over. The final party saw the iconic venue utterly trashed. But the busy bees over at Bed Buzz continue to create new visions of nightlife pleasure, and Friday 15 November 2013 saw the opening of their new pop-up project, In Bed with Heineken at Space 16.
The empty rooftop above Foodland on Sukhumvit 16 has been transformed into what Bed Buzz promises will be this year’s most exciting outdoor beer, dining and entertainment experience. In other words, we’re talking up-market beer garden. Space 16 is bedecked with Bed Supperclub’s distinct white décor, the space lined with enormous sofas supporting low tables. Heineken too makes its presence felt: massive green neon logos shine over the bar, stage and swimming pool, although the latter’s water is nearly bottle-green so we don’t think anyone will be tempted to take a dip, even after a few towers.
The invite-only opening party was packed with movers and shakers from Bangkok’s party scene, all enjoying the breeze, the view and tanking up on free beer and cheap nibbles before heading elsewhere. A live band kicked off with a mixture of inoffensive party classics, Thai and Western tunes, before handing things over to DJ THEFUNKMAN from Singapore who played a very agreeable mixture of house and hip hop. Indeed by the time we’d made a move to another space around 10.30pm, some party-goers were dancing on the deck.
For a low-key, laid-back atmosphere that’s, admittedly, not entirely in keeping with Bed’s raucous reputation, check out Space 16; it’s open every evening to Christmas. Thereafter, we’ve heard rumour In Bed with Heineken will be replaced by another pop-up concept, not to mention whispers of a new, more permanent home for Bed Supperclub in the future. Getting There:
You can you to go there taxi but you can also use BTS Skytrain until Asoke Station or MRT subway until Sukhumvit Station and walk little bit until the soi 16.
