Jakkee Restaurant

This nondescript, shop-house restaurant has a history dating back three generations. Originally located on Yaowaraj (Bangkok’s Chinatown), the restaurant moved to its present location in 1972.

Its clientele comprises mostly the older generation (40 up) and, perhaps, their sons and daughters. Everyone seems to know the menu by heart. Besides the signature dishes – rad na nua (stir-fried rice noodles with beef gravy sauce) and egg noodles with crab meat – it offers a selection of Chinese-style stir-fried meat over rice dishes, deep-fried wontons and olive fried rice.

The portions, though, are small and prices are twice as expensive as what you will normally pay at other open-air shop-house restaurants.
