Tapas & Wine Bar - $$$

Scarlett Wine Bar and Restaurant on the 37th floor of the Pullman Hotel Silom serves great international cuisine with superb views of Bangkok ever-changing sea of skyscrappers. From the moment you enter the vast restaurant you are instantly immersed in a warm atmosphere, and the tension of the outside world fades away. Occupying almost an entire floor, the dining room is cleverly designed to create islands of lights,Tag Heuer Replica Watches making the place cozy without the need for walls or partitions. Old wood flooring, carpets and earth toned walls add a homey touch, just like going to an old friend's place. The central bar with thousands of suspended glasses, the long central table and the huge wine cellar are all good indicators that this place is dedicated to people with a taste for the good things in life.

On one side of the restaurant, a floor to ceiling window reveals a superb view of Bangkok, but the real catch is on the opposite side of the room with a 160 square meter open-air balcony. Most diners have a tendency to gravitate towards the open terrace decorated with artificial but realistic vegetation, which offers a fascinating bird’s eye view of the city. It isn’t technically a rooftop, but with striking views of the Bangkok skyline, it’s the perfect place to catch up with your friends over a cocktail or wine before dinner, or you might even decide to have your dinner outdoors. Note that with the terrace being so popular it is strongly recommended to reserve your table in advance.

Once we were ready to get down to real business, we selected our wine from an extensive wine list of more than 150 labels and were eager to discover what a 2 star Michelin Chef has to offer. As usual the most fun sounding dishes are always the most appealing so we went for 'Bone Marrow with Shallots' (310 baht), a 'Lobster Caesar Salad' (690 baht), some 'Jamon Iberico de Bellota' (650 baht) a famous spanish ham. For our main dishes, we decided on a perfect 'Rack of Lamb' (620 baht), a 'Pacific Ocean Snow Fish' (850 baht) and what's called an 'Aller et Retour' (780 baht) which is a classic beef tartar briefly pan seared, rather copious and with a strong personality.

And no dinner would be complete without the appropriate little guilty sweets!

Try the 'Grand Marnier Souffle' (250 baht), the skilfully presented 'Sabayon of Seasonal Fruits' (250 baht) or, for the brave, a 'Rum Baba' (250 baht) that is marinated in alcohol for several days!

So the questions at the end of our meals are always the same... Did we enjoy the food? Was the service spotless? Is the atmosphere such that we would not hesitate to come back? Would we recommend to our friends? To all these questions, an emphatic 'yes' was the only possible answer: Scarlett is definitely a winner.
