Jamies Italian

Italian - $$$

Jamie Oliver is one of Britain’s most-celebrated of celebrity chefs. The personality behind numerous cooking shows and best-selling UK cookbooks is known for fusing British and Italian cuisine, and now runs five restaurant brands. This one is all about comforting Italian cuisine in a casual setting.

The restaurant follows a standardized, contemporary-rustic format—heavy on the wood and grunge metal textures. The vast space carries three sizable counters in two zones. An antipasti station and a drink table sit on the right, where the dining room is exposed to natural light through floor-to-ceiling windows. There's also a kitchen counter on the more closed side, giving diners a peek of the kitchen. You can also grab some Jamie Oliver cookbooks and souvenirs from a shopping stand.

Devised by both Oliver and his mentor, Italian chef Gennaro Contaldo, the menu is all about comfort food. If you've ever eaten at any of Jamie's other branches, you'll recognize the familiar menu. The playful antipasti plate comes served atop tomato cans, with both meat (from B590) and vegetarian (B490) options. The in-house-made pasta gets cooked into the likes of prawn linguine (B300), penne arrabbiata (B250) and tagliatelle Bolognese (B280), while pizza starts at B310. Mains are unambitious but comforting. A 12oz rib-eye steak sets you back B1,490 and comes with wild mushrooms, gremolata (a chopped herb condiment), balsamic onions and chips. Don’t miss the chocolate brownie with amaretto ice cream (B230) or panna cotta (B210) for dessert.

The bar makes classic cocktails with twists, including the Jamie’s Mojito (with Martini Bianco vermouth and prosecco, B300) and Gennaro’s Sidecar (with limoncello, B300). Wine starts at B225 by the glass while there are also some Italian beers like Menabrea (B280) and Birra Roma Ambrata (B320).

Jamie’s is already taking an online knocking, especially for service. Our experience was of food above your average mall offerings in an inviting space. Go test it for yourself and make your own mind up.
